Salim S. Abdool Karim is a clinical infectious diseases epidemiologist widely acknowledged for his scientific contributions and leadership in AIDS and Covid-19. He is the Director of CAPRISA (Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa) and Professor of Global Health at Columbia University. He is an Adjunct Professor at Cornell and Harvard Universities and Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has served as President of the South African Medical Research Council. He is a member of the WHO Science Council and the WHO TB-HIV Task Force. He is Vice-President of the International Science Council. He is a member of the Africa Commission on Covid-19 and The Lancet Commission on Covid-19.
